Good to know:
Tomatoes are very low
in calories at around 17 kilocalories per 100 g, but they have vitamins and
minerals. The antioxidant "lycopene" is famous. Lycopene neutralizes
free radicals. Free radicals are mainly caused by UV light and are associated
with the symptoms of aging and cancer. Added to this is the potassium content
of the tomatoes. Potassium is dehydrating and has a slight laxative effect. In
this way, not only water, but also toxins are flushed out. In addition,
tomatoes naturally contain the substance glutamate. It gives the tomato an
effect that is very positive for those who are willing to diet: While eating,
the taste buds are greatly satisfied, after eating you are more satisfied. This
prevents you from quickly reaching for a chocolate bar. By the way: The natural
glutamate contained in tomatoes is absolutely harmless.
Cucumbers are
particularly low in calories, but contain a lot of zinc. This activates the
immune system and helps prevent cravings. A big plus point from the point of
view of those who want to lose weight is the fiber in cucumber. The fiber is
responsible for keeping cucumbers full for a long time, because the volume of
food consumed is relatively large in relation to the amount of calories.
Although only a few usable calories were actually absorbed, a feeling of
satiety sets in. Melons are extremely low in calories, but rich in
valuable antioxidants. Beta carotene, which protects eyes and skin, is particularly
well known. In addition, melons dehydrate and their fiber keeps you full for a
long time. This mix of good properties makes the melon a perfect ingredient,
especially if you want to lose weight.
The lactic acid bacteria contained in
yoghurt (e.g.
bifidobacteria) promote digestion and
thus the absorption of important micronutrients. By the way, they also push the
immune system. This increases the efficiency. And whoever feels more vital,
automatically moves more - this in turn increases the total calorie
consumption. Basil is rich in chlorophyll. This neutralizes free
radicals. Basil is even medically effective: it has an anticonvulsant and
pain-relieving effect, and its essential oils are antibacterial.
